Forum Post: RE: Unable to share port between VLANs on old PowerConnect 2724
The majority of your end devices will send and receive untagged packets. You mentioned placing servers and printers as Tagged for some VLANS, but the servers and printers are probably not sending...

Thank you for your reply. I did some research and did find that the switches we are using are L2 switches. So I then got access to our Sonicwall appliance, created a new interface:

That is interesting, I would think that when the ACL is applied to the VLAN, that all traffic inside the VLAN would be unaffected and the ACL would only apply when traffic is in/out of the VLAN.

What model switch are you working with? What firmware is the switch currently running? Are you able to reproduce the outcome? Are there other users that may be logging into the switch CLI or GUI?

Were you able to get around to that firmware update? Did it help the situation?

Thanks for the extra information. is port 37 the port facing the new device? Or the SonicWall? The port that faces the SonicWall should be set to tagged for VLAN 40. The port that faces the new devices...

Port 37 is facing the new device. The switch this new device is connected to is actually running into another switch which has the SonicWall appliance connected to port 1.

Ok, I am not quite done yet I guess. While I can access the node and login successfully I cannot get the Wire EDM machine that communicates with the node to connect to the node itself. The Wire EDM...

Glad to hear you were able to make some progress. It sounds like everything is on the right track, perhaps there is a switch to switch connection that needs some tweaking.
