Forum Post: RE: Open Manage Network Manager
Hi Daniel That is really useful. I just need to tweak these reports. This software is like a maze to operate with. cheers

The CLI on these X-series switches seems to have extremely limited functionality. This is very sad because I've found the CLI to be great on all other Dell PowerConnect and Force10 switches that I have...

It is a possible memory issue, I would make sure the firmware is up to date....

View ArticleForum Post: X-Series DHCP Server lease limits
I can't find anywhere in the documentation the maximum number of addresses that the built-in DHCP server can lease. I know on some Dell switches it's very small (like only 256 address on the N-series).
View ArticleForum Post: RE: X-Series DHCP Server settings only allow one DNS server?!
I have to say that this limitation is very annoying. The DNS servers option you mention just helps the switch resolve from multiple servers, which isn't really helpful to this specific problem. Any...
View ArticleForum Post: RE: New MXL pair, one stack port flapping
As a follow up I managed to chase down someone with a spare 40Gb cable and that resolved the issue, so apparently the brand new cable was bad. Now to figure out who to yell at for a new one
View ArticleForum Post: RE: X-Series DHCP Server lease limits
Hi, The limited CLI is how it is supposed to be. The limit of DHCP addresses is not published, but it is most likely not more than an N series switch.

Hi, If you take it out of the port channel will it let you set flow control or make the port active?

But what about the GUI being unable to apply VLAN or port profiles settings to port ranges or even globally? The User Guide documentation says you should be able to do this - example on pg. 159: "Port...

You would think so but do. there is no duplex command interestingly if i take it out of port-channel and pull the SFP, I can see in the sh run a duplex full, i just can't do a no dupex
View ArticleForum Post: RE: X-Series DHCP Server lease limits
For anyone who might be interested, I wrote a script to test the limit on DHCP server leased addresses for the switch. The limit is 512 addresses for the entire DHCP server (that includes all pools).

View ArticleForum Post: RE: No lights on the ports m6220
The patch panel connects to Nortel switch. It is strange that the m6220 and the patch panel/nortel is not working but if I connect a laptop the patch panel it works.
View ArticleForum Post: RE: No lights on the ports m6220
Are there any port settings on the nortel?
View ArticleForum Post: RE: No lights on the ports m6220
Actually I don't know . The other team handles anything beyond the patch panel but I can ask if there is any specific thing to check Thanks Paras.
View ArticleForum Post: RE: No lights on the ports m6220
Check to see if there is any port security. It could be configured to not allow switches to connect as a security measure for rogue devices.

Try updating the firmware. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?
